Mephisto Tour
A town becomes a stage
Mephisto himself will be your guide through Staufen – experience a guided tour of the town of a quite special kind!
Follow the likeable devil through the winding alleys of Faust’s town, Staufen. Here, in 1539, he is said to have fetched the soul of Johann Georg Faust, who was employed to produce gold by the lord of the castle, Anton von Staufen.

Auerbachs Kellertheater, the cellar theatre

The private theatre is housed in a vaulted cellar and has seats for a maximum of 99 visitors.
It is managed by Eberhard Busch and is renowned beyond the town boundary for its inventive productions and stage settings.

Museums
In the Stadtmuseum, the municipal museum in Staufen’s historic town hall, you can view the building itself, which was constructed in 1564 and is interesting from a cultural and historical point of view, and also numerous exhibits from the varied history of the medieval Faust town, of the silver mining and the 1848 revolution.
In addition, you can visit the ceramics museum in Staufen, which is a branch of the Badische Landesmuseum, the Baden State museum. |
